UPDATED FOR THE COVID-19 CRISIS
Our Food Pantry is a member of MEND (Meeting Essential Needs with Dignity), an Interfaith Food Pantry Network in Essex County, and The Community Food Bank of New Jersey.
The Food Pantry has been providing food on an emergency basis to families in Bloomfield and surrounding communities in Essex County since 1982. During the COVID-19 crisis we are currently serving over 250 families per month, representing over 1200 people. This represents a six-fold increase over our 2019 average. We are grateful to the many community and civic groups and partner organizations for their generous support!
The Food Pantry is located on the church premises at 147 Broad Street, Bloomfield, and is open 9:30 am to 11:00 am every Wednesday and Friday, and 10 am to 12 noon on the fourth Saturday of the month. Currently, all food is pre-packed and distributed outside in the parking lot located in the rear of the main building at 2 Church St. Patrons must wear face masks and gloves and maintain social distancing while waiting. A referral is no longer required.
The current director is Don Cornell. For more information, please call the Church Office at 973-743-1796 and leave a message, which will promptly be returned.
Donations of non-perishable food are welcome. Please call the Church Office and leave a message to arrange for pickup or drop-off. We also accept monetary donations by making the check out to BPCOG (Bloomfield Presbyterian Church On the Green) and note for the Food Pantry, and mail to the Church address–147 Broad St., Bloomfield, NJ.
