Trusting God and ministering to all people as Christ teaches us in the Gospel.
Christ came to us at Christmas to open our eyes, our ears, our hearts, our minds and our hands to the Good News that God has chosen us and called us by name. As we begin the New Year, let us all remember to. . .
Open our eyes to see one another as brothers and sisters in Christ;
open our ears to hear one another’s stories and concerns;
open our hearts to feel one another’s hopes and dreams and fears;
open our minds to respect one another’s opinions and feelings;
open our hands to serve one another in the name of Jesus Christ.
During the stewardship campaign we focused on the monetary gifts we will make so the church can do its work. Now we have the opportunity to focus on the time and talents we have to share with the church family. There are opportunities to serve at the church such as setting tables for a dinner, singing in the choir, working in the Food Pantry or Thrift Shop, joining the book club, weeding the garden, ushering at worship services. There are also opportunities to serve at home such as baking cookies for church events, becoming part of a prayer chain, keeping in touch with fellow members via e-mail or telephone, knitting or crocheting hats/scarves/mittens for those who come to the Food Pantry, making cards/writing letters to our service men and women. God has blessed this church family with many talents. Let us commit ourselves this year to sharing our talents with one another and with our community so that all who see us will know that we are doing God’s work. In the words of the old hymn – “Take Thou ourselves, O Lord, heart, mind and will. Through our surrendered souls Thy plans fulfill. We yield ourselves to Thee - time, talents, all. We hear, and henceforth heed, Thy sovereign call.”
Grace and Peace.
See you in church!
