Welcome One and All
The Church on the Green opens our doors to all. We aspire to be a church that feels "like home" for a first time visitor, but that offers a lifetime of opportunities to grow in faith and service. We welcome seekers and lifelong Christians, single and married people, families of all configurations and children of all ages, dyed-in-the-wool Presbyterians and those who aren't even sure how to spell P-r-e-s-b-y-t-e-r-i-a-n but want to know Christ. We are united in our desire for an authentic faith expressed in acts of compassion and service. Could we be the church you've been looking for?
While our sanctuary is closed for renovations, We worship in our Chapel, which is adjacent to the main sanctuary. The entrance is on Broad Street across from Bloomfield High School. Ample parking is available in the Board of Education lot on the corner of Broad St. and Belleville Ave. The service begins at 10:45AM. All are welcome.
The Sunday morning adult education series "The Geography of God" led by Pastor Ruth continues on Sunday mornings from 9:30 - 10:30 until March 12. On March 19, we will begin a new series, led by Glenn Maciag, using a short (85 page) book by Petrus Dathenus called "The Pearl of Christian Comfort". Petrus Dathenus (1531 or 1532-1588) was an early Dutch reformer sometimes called "The John Knox of the Netherlands". “The Pearl of Christian Comfort” was written by Dathenus to provide spiritual comfort and assurance to Christians struggling in those areas. It is written in the form of a dialogue between Dathenus and a younger Christian. Because the book was not translated into English until the 1990s, the English is modern and readable. Interested? Want to get a copy of the book? Please talk to Glenn Maciag.

CHRISTMAS PAGEANT 2016
The Christmas Pageant, "Something for Children to Do, remembering William Batchelder Bradbury, 1816-1868," was presented during worship on Sunday, December 18, 2016. The children and adults performed together beautifully, helping us all to enter the spirit of the season.

Bibles Heroes was our theme for "Bible Palooza with Pastor Ruth on Sunday, July 24, 2016. The children and youth enjoyed Bible storytelling, crafts, singing, recreation, and a service project. There was a discussion group for parents, lunch together on the manse back porch, and a juicy watermelon to top off the afternoon.

We had glorious weather and a glorious turnout for our "Live Nativity Story on December 18, 2015. Over 150 people accompanied Mary and Joseph on a narrated walk through the church grounds to "the stable in Bethlehem with angels, shepherds, wise men and live animals. We warmed up afterwards in the Parish House with cocoa, refreshments and childrens Christmas craft activities. Special thanks to The Bloomfield Chorale and La Iglesia Evangelio Completo for their participation, and to Investors Bank for their financial support.

ACTION AGAINST HUNGER Food Drive, Sunday Oct 4, 2015
In spite of threatening weather our BPGOG Food Pantry again participated in the annual, MEND, North Jersey Media Group Foundation Fundraiser. Our Food Pantry Volunteers handed flyers to customers as they entered the Stop & Shop on Franklin Street in Bloomfield from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 PM. Although somewhat windy, the threatening weather did not discourage the shoppers as they contributed 650 lbs. of nonperishable food items and $143.81 in cash contributions. By mid-afternoon the overcast clouds gave way to partially sunny conditions, but the wind still prevailed. As the store has two entrances/exits, this year we shared the site with The First Hopewell Baptist Church in Newark.

On Sunday, Sept. 27, we welcomed our new Interim Organist/Choir Director Tim Witzal to the church family. After a program of piano music, the congregation enjoyed a luncheon to celebrate our newest staff member.
