“OUT OF CHAOS HOPE”
Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) is our special offering in January. PDA works with presbyteries and synods in the United States, and with ecumenical partners, faith-based organizations and non-governmental organizations around the world in response to both natural and human caused disasters whenever and wherever they occur.
Assistance (personnel, finances, tools, humanitarian supplies, training) is provided to local groups as they respond to the disaster. Emergency grants provide for immediate needs like water, shelter and food. Members of the National Response Team go to disaster sites to help coordinate the local response and connect communities with resources. Because PDA focuses on long-term recovery, remaining on site to help communities rebuild and regain stability, it is often one of the very last organizations to leave a disaster impacted area.
Between January 1 and June 30, 2025, the latest statistics available at the time of this writing, 115 grants totaling $2,334,289 had been awarded to 22 countries (including the United States) recovering from earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, floods, and the destruction resulting from wars. “Migration Accompaniment Ministry” received 15 grants: to provide training programs for congregations and mid councils in the United States working with migrants; to provide aid to Internally Displaced Persons in South Sudan and to refugees from Ukraine with immediate needs and projects to support their economic independence.
Our donations, big and small, witness to the healing love of God through our care for communities in times of crisis. Thank you for your support for neighbors in need.
